A challenging narrow plot in need of 3 dwelling units surrounded by densely packed buildings !!

CONCEPT   EVOLUTION

  • The E - LONGATED HOUSE  as the name states is a 20' X 60' plot where the spatial arrangements play a major role.

  • We started designing by keeping the surrounding buildings in mind which are tightly arranged and also how it may develop in the future, this brought us two important features that this building must possess,

  • Maximum adaptation of natural light and ventilation
    • We achieved it by increasing the cross ventilations and adapting clerestory windows in the building.

  • Complete Privacy for the resident
    • Again another reason to go for clerestory windows and we used louvers for windows as a visual barrier.

  • We first placed the vertical space of the building in the plan which is the starting point for other required spaces.

  • This design is also planned based on the Vastu shastra as per the client's request.

MATERIALS USED :

" LESS IS MORE "

Though the building consist of three separate dwellings, we framed the elevation design in such a way that it appears as an individual Residence which makes it look whole.
